About This Blog

It is no longer a question whether or not we are heading towards an environmental collapse on our current path of so-called 'development'. We are in need of an environmental, social and economic revolution. I won't bother spending time elaborating on the necessity for change.

The good news is that there are people battling on every front. Dedicated individuals raising awareness about various environmental, social and economic challenges. Dedicated individuals who are actively pushing for reforms and dedicated individuals who are already showing us that a different world is possible. Raising awareness, reform, and revolution. These are the three new 'R's which I believe everyone has an obligation to engage with to some degree or another.

Born in Brazil, raised and educated in Canada, I'm now going back to Brazil in order to combine my two passions: education and sustainable development.

I'm feeling a drive to go to Brazil despite being offered a job teaching in Canada. While teaching in Canada would be an important avenue through which I could raise awareness of some of the challenges facing our world as well as strive to make positive reforms in school practices, I'm hoping to try to push further. I want to learn more about organizations, communities and individuals who are not only saying that a new world is possible, but also creating and living in a sustainable alternative to our current world. This will be my goal in Brazil.

I'm not to sure what the end result will be as I explore these various initiatives in Brazil. But if this goes anything like so many of my other travels, things will seem to fall into place almost naturally. A vague, open-ended plan is, in my experience, the best way to meet interesting people and see the most interesting places. I'm dedicating this blog to share the stories of the people I meet along the way, to share the photos and videos of the places I visit, and to share the lessons I learn throughout the challenges and opportunities that present themselves.
